As a corporate professional, I have always been stuck in the fast-paced and humdrum of my work life. There are days when the tasks are endless, and I seem to be swamped with endless work and tough deadlines. Mountains have always been my favorite since my childhood. As a child, I have fond memories of visiting various hill stations with my family. But, one hill destination that I can’t seem to have enough of is Dharamsala. It is a beautiful place which offers so much to the traveler.

So, recently, I booked my Amritsar to Dharamshala tour using Walk and Explore. And I must say I was happy beyond measure as everything was well taken care of. They paid heed to the minutest of detail, and the trip itinerary was simply spectacular. We covered most of the tourist places and even some hidden spots without feeling exhausted or overwhelmed.  During the trip, I was accompanied by a trained tourist guide who explained to me the history behind each and every place we visited. Also, any extra information needed to visit the place was provided. The tour guide was very reliable and friendly, and this, without a doubt, added to the experience I had on the trip.

Let me tell you a little about how Walk and Explore had planned my trip. Book your Amritsar Dharamshala tour package with them, and you can easily take a break and unwind.

Amritsar

Amritsar, popularly referred to as a ‘Guru ki Nagari’, is a hub of spirituality and culture. The city is a haven for food lovers and history enthusiasts. From visiting the world-renowned Golden Temple to the Wagah border, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum, the charm of the place is huge. People come to Amritsar to seek calm and peace and connect themselves with the spiritual vibe that the place has to offer. A day in Amritsar is enough to rejuvenate and refresh your tired mind and soul.

Dharamsala

Dharamshala is a must-visit destination if you appreciate places with scenic mountain views and spectacular locales. It is located at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level, and you will have majestic views of Dhauldhar range from here. This place is like an elaborate buffet of the most amazing dishes. You have so much to see and experience here. From visiting the monasteries and exploring Tibetan culture to indulging in adventure activities such as hiking etc, to even enjoying a calm stroll in the serene tea garden, the place offers endless opportunities to all kinds of travelers. I booked my Amritsar Dharamshala tour with Walk and Explore, and they had my 4 days and 3 nights planned amazingly well. I felt so much at ease and comfort as everything was well-planned and comfortable. When you know that somebody has meticulously chalked out things for you, it is a wonderful feeling.

Day 1: Arrival in Amritsar

Day 1: Arrival in Amritsar

In the morning, I reached Amritsar, and I was transferred to a nice, comfortable hotel for my stay. After check-in, I rested, and then the taxi left to take me to the most beautiful Golden Temple. Golden Temple, popularly known as Harmandar Sahib, is one of the most spectacular-looking shrines that I have ever seen. The visit to this holy place transports you into a different zone of tranquility and peace. After seeing the Golden Temple, I went to explore the Jallianwala Bagh. It is a historic site where the tragic massacre took place in 1919 on Baisakhi Day. We also went to the Partition Museum, which was a spectacular experience. In the afternoon, I had time at leisure, and I could do whatever I wanted. I had a nice lunch at a popular eating joint near my hotel. In the evening, around 3 PM, I had to leave for the Wagah Border to witness the Closing Ceremony. Wagah Border divides India and Pakistan. The closing ceremony started at 5:30 PM, and I saw an action-packed military practice by the security forces of India and Pakistan. There was a parade, then a ceremony that involved the lowering of the flags, and then a retreat. The patriotism in the air was palpable. After the ceremony, I returned to my hotel. We had our dinner at Heritage Street, and I must say it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The overnight stay in Amritsar was at the hotel.

Day 2: Amritsar- Dharamsala

Day 2: Amritsar- Dharamsala

In the morning, I checked out from my hotel in Amritsar, and I left for McLeod Ganj (Dharamshala). The journey took around 6 hours. It was a comfortable journey, and the view from Pathankot was very nice. I could see hills from a distance.

Upon reaching McLeod Ganj, I checked in at my hotel. In the evening, I went to visit Bhagsu Nag waterfall. There was a chill in the air, which was fantastic. I also went to see the St. John Church and Dalai Lama Temple. The Dalai Lama Temple transferred me into a zone of peace and introspection. I also explored the local market. The overnight stay was at the hotel. I only had my dinner at the hotel. The air of Mcleod Ganj is very fresh and refreshing, and in just a day, I felt the tiredness and stress leaving my body.

Day 3: Local sightseeing

Day 3: Local sightseeing

After having my breakfast, I was all charged up for a full-day excursion. First, I went to see Dharamshala HPCA cricket stadium. The hills at the backdrop of the stadium presented a marvelous view. The next stop was Norbulingha Institute, which gave me insight into Tibetan history and culture. As I am fond of art and history, I visited the Kangra Art Museum. Dharmsala is never complete without a visit to the tea Gardens. I did a little bit of shopping here. Later, I enjoyed one of the most beautiful sunsets in the Naddi Village. The night accommodation was at the hotel in Dharamshala. I went to a nearby restaurant to have my dinner, and the day ended with a small walk outside my hotel.

Day 4: Dharamsala to Amritsar

Day 4: Dharamsala to Amritsar

After breakfast, I checked out from the hotel and proceeded to Amritsar in a comfortable, fully A/C sedan. The journey was comfortable, and I took a small refreshment break. The cab driver dropped me off at Amritsar Airport ion for my onward journey. The tour ended with memories that I will cherish my whole life. I came back with a recharged and refreshed spirit, ready to tackle the things that life will throw at me. Trips like these are always welcome as they brace you up for routine. In my opinion, booking a getaway with Walk and Explore was the best decision I had taken. There was nothing that I had to organize, and the trio was executed seamlessly.

I really enjoyed the tour with Walk and Explore, they designed a perfect itinerary of Amritsar Dharamsala for me. Their team is so friendly, it does not seems like I am with a travel guide. The way of their storytelling was really amazing, I get to know a lot about Dharamsala and Amritsar by the end of this tour.
